Breast Surgery at Woodland Hospital
Alteration of the size, shape and position of the breast and nipple is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures that we are able to offer.
Here at Woodland Hospital we offer several types of breast surgery, from enlargement to reduction, with or without uplift. Your Consultant will discuss with you all the options available and work with you to achieve the desired outcome.
For women who want to increase their breast size and improve the overall shape of the chest, breast augmentation surgery can be a great way to win back both your physical and emotional confidence. Many of our patients tell us after surgery that they feel more feminine; have an increased self-esteem; and feel finally at ease with their body image.
Surgery involves inserting an implant behind your natural breast tissue. This projects the natural breast tissue forward, giving it a fuller and larger appearance. Breast surgery is typically carried out under general anaesthetic and takes about one hour to complete. In most cases, patients are allowed to go home the same day.
For women whose breasts are larger and heavier than normal, it can be a real burden on the rest of the body to carry that additional weight around. Unfortunately, weight loss alone may not be the solution, which is why more and more women are turning to breast reduction surgery as a means of regaining their quality of life. Our patients often tell us just how much better their lives have become by being able to go about their daily lives with renewed confidence and wellbeing.
In order to reduce the size of the chest, tissue is removed during surgery whilst the surgeon restores the breasts’ contour, all of which is carried out under a general anaesthetic. This restoration normally involves the relocation of the nipple as well as moving the surrounding skin back into the centre of the newly created breast shape. Typically, the procedure can take an average of two to three hours to perform.
The most common way to reduce breast sagging after pregnancy or otherwise is with a breast uplift, Also known as a mastopexy. Unlike breast enhancement surgery, breast uplift surgery does not always involve using an implant to surgically enhance the breast but the surgeon lifts the breast and reshapes it to make the breasts perkier.
During the breast uplift procedure, your surgeon will rearrange the soft tissue, repositioning the nipple and tightening the surrounding breast skin. Generally, it takes around 2 hours to perform under a general anaesthetic.
