Breast Reduction at Woodland Hospital
For women whose breasts are larger and heavier than normal, it can be a real burden on the rest of the body to carry that additional weight around. Unfortunately, weight loss alone may not be the solution, which is why more and more women are turning to breast reduction surgery as a means of regaining their quality of life.
Our patients often tell us just how much better their lives have become by being able to go about their daily lives with renewed confidence and wellbeing.
Breast Reduction Procedure
In order to reduce the size of the chest, tissue is removed during surgery whilst the surgeon restores the breasts’ contour, all of which is carried out under a general anaesthetic. This restoration normally involves the relocation of the nipple as well as moving the surrounding skin back into the centre of the newly created breast shape. Typically, the procedure can take an average of two to three hours to perform.

Risks of Breast Reduction Surgery
Breast reduction surgery is subject to the same risk of complications as other forms of cosmetic surgery. However, because we ensure that patients are in good health before surgery, the risk of developing any problems is significantly lower than those for a patient who is undergoing surgery due to a medical condition.
At Woodland Hospital, our consultants make sure you understand the details of the breast reduction procedure fully before you make your final decision.
