Deciding whether or not to get cosmetic surgery can be a difficult decision so discussing your treatment options with a cosmetic surgeon is essential to helping you decide if surgery is the right choice for you. Below are some frequently asked questions surrounding cosmetic surgery
- Do I need a GP referral for Cosmetic Surgery?
No – you can refer yourself for Cosmetic Surgery without a GP referral. Your Consultant at Woodland Hospital will talk through what expect from your surgery.
- Will I meet the Consultant who will perform my operation at my Consultation?
Yes – the Consultant you meet at your initial Consultation will be the surgeon who performs your surgery, and will see you through your whole journey at Woodland Hospital.
- What is included in my package price?
The Ramsay Health Care ‘Total Care’ package includes all aspects of your Cosmetic Surgery from pre-operative assessment through to the surgery itself. The only additional cost is your initial Consultant with your Consultant.
- Is plastic surgery just for women?
Although women have been the traditional recipients of cosmetic surgery, men are choosing it in increasing numbers. In fact, the number of men opting for surgery has almost doubled in the past decade, from 2,440 treatments in 2005 to 4,614 in 2015. Male breast reductions have risen during that period by 13% and male facial procedures were up by an average of 15.5%. Less invasive procedures such as treatments to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and dermal fillers can give men a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance without much downtime. These, along with liposuction, and the reduction of male breast tissue (gynaecomastia / gynecomastia surgery) are the most popular cosmetic surgery treatments for men.
- How many people undergo cosmetic surgery each year?
Cosmetic surgery continues to be increasingly popular in the UK, backed up by figures released in 2015. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons revealed that there were 51,540 surgical procedures in 2015, up from 45,406 in 2014.
Woodland Hospital is proud to work in partnership with some of the highest qualified and experienced surgeons in the UK. To maintain these high standards, Ramsay employ a vigorous vetting procedure.
