Liposuction is a great way to overcome the embarrassment localised areas of excess fat which can trouble both men and women. Best suited to people who have already lost weight but are unable to shift the remaining stubborn areas, fat removal helps to re-balance the body’s contours and bring it back into proportion. Our patients often tell us how much more confident they have become since having surgery, and what a positive impact it has had on their lives.

How Liposuction Works
The procedure involves the surgical removal of surplus fat through a slender tube called a cannula. This cannula can either be connected to a large syringe or a special surgical vacuum device, through which excess fat cells are carefully sucked away.
Liposuction can be used to treat different areas including hips, lower abdomen, lower buttock folds, outer thighs, inner knees and chest area (in men only).
Recovering From Liposuction
The operated area is often quite tender, bruised and painful for several weeks following surgery. Your consultant surgeon will prescribe you with a course of pain killers to help manage the discomfort in the first couple of weeks.
Results will be obscured by the inevitable swelling that takes place following this type of procedure. After the initial post-operative swelling has settled down, subtle improvements to the contour and newly created shape will take place for up to six months following liposuction surgery.
Risks of Liposuction
The risk of developing complications during or after liposuction surgery is quite low since all patients must be in good health before undergoing any procedure. However, all surgery carries risks, and therefore we will only perform the procedure if a patient is deemed well enough.
Your consultant surgeon will explain all of the risks that are involved in the liposuction procedure during your initial consultation.
