Meet Miss Biswas, Consultant Gynaecologist
Meet Miss Biswas, Consultant Gynaecologist at Woodland Hospital
Miss Sreeparna Biswas is a Consultant Gynaecologist with a special interest in minimal access (keyhole) surgery.
How long have you been working as a Consultant Gynaecologist and why did you choose this area of expertise?
I have been a consultant gynaecologist since sept 2014, starting in Leicester and eventually moving to Kettering.
I have always loved the mix of medicine and surgery and so Gynaecology was the perfect combination. Each day is different in my clinic and the variety keeps me buzzing. I have found it a very satisfying speciality to be in.
I am known for my down to earth and friendly nature with a strong clinical and surgical acumen. I believe in holistic approaches to treatment keeping the patient involved at all stages.
What are the most typical Gynaecological issues you treat?
I am a generalist in Gynaecology with a special interest in minimal access (keyhole) surgery. I also specialise in Gynaecology cancers in the local NHS Hospital.
I have expertise in addressing and managing a wide variety of Gynaecology cases like hysteroscopy, colposcopy, minor outpatient operations, contraception, HRT, pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, endometrial ablation, sterilisation, endometriosis, fertility problems, recurrent miscarriage, fibroid, myomectomy, ovarian cysts, pcos, preconception counselling, vulval problems.
Have you seen any exciting developments in treatments in the field of Gynaecology recently?
The most exciting Gynaecology advances I have been proud to introduce is total laparoscopic hysterectomy. I feel keyhole surgery is the way forward giving the patient less morbidity and a much faster recovery.
You’re obviously a very busy Consultant. How do you relax?
My biggest relaxation are my children. Although they keep me on my toes, nothing makes me more happy than spending time with them. I love reading, listening to music and going to the gym when time permits.
